Applying Glitter DTF Transfers for Lasting Results

Applying your glitter DTF transfers is quick, simple, and easy to master—whether you’re new to heat pressing or an experienced pro.

STEP 1

Pre-press & position

Pre-press the garment 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles, then
place the transfer glitter side down (image facing up through the film).

STEP 2

Press

Press at 300–310°F (149–154°C) for 10–15 seconds with firm pressure.

STEP 3

Cool & cold peel

Wait until completely cool — Glitter DTF is cold peel, don't peel warm. Peel slowly from a corner, then final press with parchment paper for 10 seconds.

Glitter DTF Transfers

Temperature note: Our sweet spot for glitter DTF is 305°F for 10–12 seconds. Stay within 300–310°F — above that can scorch the glitter, below that may weaken adhesion.

Polyester: Start at 305°F for 10 seconds. If you see scorching or dye migration, lower to 285–290°F and add 1–2 seconds.

Glitter DTF FAQs

How many washes can glitter DTF transfers withstand before fading?

When applied correctly, Glitter DTF holds up to repeated washing—comparable to our regular DTF. Wash inside-out in cold water, tumble dry low or hang dry, and wait 24 hours after pressing before the first wash. We haven't published lab wash-test numbers, but customer reorders are our real-world durability metric.

Can I fit multiple designs on one Glitter DTF transfer sheet?

Yes. Fit as many designs as you can within your chosen sheet size. The film is 22 inches wide, lengths from 24" to 120". Use our free builder if you don't have a layout ready.

Do glitter DTF transfers need different heat press settings than regular DTF?

Same temperature range as regular DTF (300–310°F), similar press time (10–15 seconds). The big difference is the peel method: regular DTF is hot peel, Glitter DTF requires cold peel—you must wait until the film cools completely before peeling. Don't peel warm.

What’s the turnaround time for custom glitter DTF transfers?

Standard turnaround is 24 hours, Monday through Friday. Same-day
printing for Glitter DTF is available when our production schedule

Will glitter DTF transfers work on dark fabrics like black t-shirts?

Yes. The white ink underbase ensures the design and silver glitter show
clearly on black, navy, dark red, or any dark color. The shimmer is most
visible on lighter design elements, but the print stays vivid
regardless of garment color.

How should I store glitter DTF transfers?

Keep them flat in their original packaging, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity. Stored under those conditions, glitter DTF transfers maintain best adhesive performance for at least 6 months. Improper storage—exposure to UV, heat, or moisture—can degrade the adhesive faster.

Do glitter DTF transfers feel thicker than regular DTF?

There's a slight texture from the glitter—you can feel it with your
fingertips—but it stays flexible and bends with the fabric.
Significantly softer than glitter HTV (heat transfer vinyl), which has a
rigid plastic feel by comparison.

Can glitter DTF transfers be used on stretchy fabrics?

Yes, when applied correctly. Polyester-spandex blends, performance fabrics, and other stretch materials work fine. The transfer flexes with the fabric without cracking, as long as the press settings (300–310°F, firm pressure, cold peel) are followed.
