The Product

Custom Stickers Made for Laptop Lids

UV DTF stickers printed from your artwork, cut to your shapes, and shipped ready to apply. No heat press, no weeding, no transfer tape to buy on the side.

Your order arrives as a printed sheet with three layers stacked together: a paper backing on the bottom, your design with the adhesive already on it in the middle, and a clear film over the top. You peel the backing, place the design on the lid, rub it down, and pull the clear film off. That is the entire process.

The film sits flush against the lid instead of standing off it like a thick cut vinyl decal, and the color is printed rather than cut, so gradients, photographs, small type and thin linework all come through. Logos, handles, QR codes, team names, full lid artwork, or forty small pieces to hand out at an event. Send one design or fill the sheet with many.

Surfaces

Where It Sticks, and Where It Does Not

UV DTF bonds to hard, smooth, flat surfaces. A laptop lid is close to a perfect one, as long as it is the lid itself and not a soft cover over it.

Good surfaces

Anodized and bare aluminum lids
Hard plastic and polycarbonate lids, glossy or smooth matte
Hard shell snap on cases with a smooth face
Tablet backs, e reader shells and other flat hard covers
Glass and acrylic, if you are decorating other items from the same sheet

Bad surfaces

Silicone skins and rubber sleeves
Soft touch rubberized coatings
Any case with grain, ribbing, a raised pattern or a rough matte texture, where the edges have nothing flat to grab
Fabric and neoprene laptop sleeves, which are a job for regular DTF transfers
Anything that bends or flexes while you use it

Read this before you order

Once the adhesive touches the lid it is down. You cannot lift it and set it back down somewhere else.
On a lid you paid a lot for, dry fit and mark your placement before you peel anything.
Keep the design off vent slots and off the hinge line. A laptop needs its airflow.
Removal is possible, but it takes gentle heat, alcohol and patience, because the adhesive is permanent.

Every sheet is 22 inches wide and you buy the length. One foot of sheet gives you a 22 by 12 inch printed area to fill, and from one foot up the rate is a flat $10.80 per foot. Ten feet costs the same per foot as one. Send us the artwork and we lay the sheet out for you.

How much length do you need

One full lid design. The lid of a 13 to 15 inch laptop fits inside the 22 inch width with room on both sides, so 1 ft covers a full lid graphic and leaves space for a few extras beside it.
Medium stickers, 4 to 5 inches. About 8 pieces at 5 inches or around 12 at 4 inches per foot, depending on the shapes and the spacing between them.
Small stickers, 2 to 3 inches. Two dozen or more per foot.
Testing first. The 6 in length at $9.00 is there so you can try the material on the exact lid before you commit to a big run.

Application

How to Apply a Laptop Sticker

STEP 1

Wipe the lid with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Fingerprints, dust and skin oil are what turn into bubbles later.

STEP 2

Dry fit. Hold the sheet over the lid with the backing still on, decide the placement, and keep the design clear of vent slots, the hinge and the outer edge.

STEP 3

Peel the paper backing off. The design stays on the clear top film. Do not touch the exposed adhesive.

STEP 4

Touch the center down first, then let the rest fall into place. Once it makes contact it is down for good and it does not reposition.

STEP 5

Rub the whole design firmly with your thumb or a squeegee, working from the center out toward the edges to push the air ahead of you.

STEP 6

Peel the clear top film off slowly, at a sharp angle. If part of the design lifts with it, lay it back down, press that spot again, and keep going.

Close the laptop and go. There is nothing to cure and nothing to wait for.

Care and Removal

How It Holds Up, and How to Take It Off

Applied to a clean, smooth lid, the sticker is permanent. It takes the handling a laptop actually gets: opening and closing, sliding in and out of a bag, and a wipe with a damp cloth.

What to keep away from it: soaking, harsh solvents, acetone based cleaners, and scrubbing the edges with an abrasive pad. We do not rate these stickers as waterproof and they are not dishwasher safe, so wipe the lid rather than washing it.

If you want it off one day. Warm the sticker with a hair dryer on a low setting to soften the adhesive. Lift a corner with a fingernail or a plastic card, never a metal blade, and pull slowly at a low angle. Expect it to come away in pieces rather than in one sheet. Clean the adhesive left behind with isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth, working in small sections.

Because the adhesive is permanent, plan on the first placement being the only placement. That is the honest version, and it is better to hear it now than after the design is on your lid.

Common Questions

Custom Laptop Sticker FAQs

Do I need a heat press or transfer tape to apply a laptop sticker?

No. There is no heat, no press, no curing and no separate transfer tape to buy. The adhesive and the clear top film are already part of the sheet. You peel the paper backing, place the design, rub it down by hand, then peel the clear film off.

Can I reposition a laptop sticker after it touches the lid?

No. Once the adhesive makes contact it is down for good. Dry fit the design over the lid with the backing still on, mark your placement, and only then peel. On an expensive lid, measure before you commit.

Will these stick to a silicone or textured laptop case?

No. UV DTF needs a hard, smooth, flat surface. Silicone skins, rubberized soft touch coatings and any case with grain, ribbing or texture will let the edges lift. A bare aluminum lid, a hard plastic lid, or a smooth hard shell case is what these are made for.

Can I remove a UV DTF laptop sticker later?

It can be done, but not quickly and not cleanly. Warm it with a hair dryer on low, lift a corner with a plastic card rather than a metal blade, and pull slowly at a low angle. It usually comes away in pieces, and the adhesive left behind has to be cleaned off with isopropyl alcohol. The adhesive is permanent, so treat the placement as final.

Are these laptop stickers waterproof?

We do not make a waterproof claim and we do not recommend soaking them. Wiping the lid with a damp cloth is fine, and so is normal daily handling. Keep drinks, solvents and long soaks away from the design.

How many stickers fit in one foot of sheet?

The sheet is 22 inches wide, so one foot gives you a 22 by 12 inch printed area. That is roughly eight stickers at 5 inches, around a dozen at 4 inches, or two dozen or more at 3 inches, depending on the shapes and the spacing between them. A full lid design for a 13 to 15 inch laptop also fits inside one foot.

Will the sticker damage the lid finish or block the vents?

The adhesive is permanent, so taking it off a painted or coated lid can lift some of that finish with it, while bare anodized aluminum tends to clean up with alcohol and patience. When you place the design, keep it clear of vent slots and the hinge line so the laptop keeps its airflow.
